Conclusions Matter More Than Data
As a seasoned coach for business presenters, I have learned some valuable lessons over the past 25 years. When it comes to delivering an effective presentation, there are a few key takeaways that are worth highlighting.
Firstly, people are primarily interested in your conclusions, not the raw data. While it's important to have data to support your findings, don't overwhelm your audience with endless PowerPoint slides filled with statistics and figures. Instead, provide a handout that they can refer to later for more in-depth analysis.
Secondly, what really matters is your interpretation of the data. Your audience wants to know what you have learned and how you have applied the data to your findings. Don't give your opinion, stick to the facts – this will ensure the presentation is more powerful, persuasive, and relevant to your audience.
Finally, don't use bullet points or text-heavy slides, as they will switch people off. Instead, use pictures and diagrams that can capture the audience's attention and convey your message in a more compelling and memorable way.
By following these simple but effective tips, you can ensure that your presentation has impact and leaves a lasting impression on your audience.
Remember, it's not rocket science – it's about delivering a clear and concise message that resonates with your listeners.
