At the beginning of April, we had the opportunity to attend Alimentaria, one of the most important event for the food sector held every two years, at the Fira of Barcelona. More than 3,000 companies attended the fair, which included a large international presence of around 400 companies. An essential point of reference to check in which direction the industry is going. And a key reference point for buyers and manufacturers to get a first-hand look at the latest product innovations.
?It was very refreshing to see the huge professional involvement, which shows the desire to regain human contact after two years of confinement, screens and remote work. At all the stands we visited, we received friendly, professional and very enriching attention.
It was also extraordinary to see the enormous vitality of the food sector, which presented countless innovations for the upcoming years. Undoubtedly, innovation continues to be the main lever for growth in the sector. We also saw a remarkable effort to reflect sustainability: manufacturers' efforts to do things right.

One of the recurring topics of conversation was the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the medium to long-term impact it will have on commodity prices, which further catapult already high inflation due to the COVID shock and an expansive monetary policy. Some manufacturers saw this as a tectonic shift that will affect our agricultural sector, making it possible to expand and modify existing growing areas in our country.
The value chain of the food sector must adapt to this new reality, and there will be an in-depth review of the offer to the consumer: more innovation, new ingredients, new formats and different product offerings. Greater attention to people's health and well-being, but also looking for new consumers through innovation. Increased turnover. More efficiency in operations, through digital transformation of processes.
