Concerns around UK's Net Zero targets, changes in our bills, and are EV's damaging our roads?

Hi there! Welcome to this week’s Where Energy is News! Grab a cup of tea and get comfortable because a lot has been going on. It seems like our beloved H2O suppliers are planning to crank up the prices, leaving us facing a whopping 40% increase in our water bills. Time to start taking shorter showers and look for some hacks to save water, like this one from Kiran Bose .

And before I continue with the rest of this week’s stories, let me tell you how thrilled we are that the Big Zero Show 2023 was a huge success! A big thank you to every single one of our sponsors, speakers and of course the FNZ team. ?We had so many innovative stands, networking opportunities, informational sessions, and eco-friendly entertainment. The Big Zero Report is now available for download, so if you haven’t done so already, grab your copy!

In other news, the CCC has given us a gentle nudge, concerned that we're not quite living up to the "net-zero superhero" status we aimed for. Looks like it's time to roll up our sustainable sleeves and put our green thinking caps on.

Energy intensive businesses are also being urged to make the most of extra savings on their energy bills. Embrace the power of efficiency, invest in energy-saving technologies, and watch those discounts zap their way onto your bill.

Experts are also advising UK homes to take a meter reading before this weekend arrives! If you pay your energy bills through direct debit, experts advise that you submit your meter readings before the price cap changes happening this weekend to avoid estimation issues. And as an extra precaution, snap a photo of it to ensure accuracy.

Shifting gears to some surprising news, turns out those eco-friendly EVs might be causing a bit more road damage than we expected. According to a study, they cause twice as much stress on roads compared to their rivals.

Lastly, are you aware of what's sucking up all that precious energy in your household? Knowledge is power (quite literally)! So, being informed can help you make smarter choices, adopt energy-saving habits, and even give your appliances a break when they're not in use.

That’s it from us, and we’ll see you next week!
