Data is the lifeblood that flows through the veins of every organization. We can all agree to that. Yet, with the ever-expanding volume and complexity of digital transactions, the concern for safeguarding this invaluable resource intensifies.?
Even within the protective embrace of a trusted CRM like Salesforce, the question always pops up in our minds – is our data truly secure?
How confident are you that your data is shielded from the prying eyes of attackers? Can you guarantee that your customer records, financial transactions, and strategic plans are immune to digital threats??
In a world where data breaches make daily headlines, the responsibility of safeguarding your organization's digital assets is more critical than ever.
Even with the robust security model that Salesforce inherently provides out of the box – securing data at every level, from individual records to the overarching organizational structure – the landscape demands an additional layer of defense.?
It demands Salesforce Shield.
What is Salesforce Shield?
Salesforce Shield is like a superhero for your data, part of the Salesforce Platform. It's not just a safety tool; it's a full package designed to make your company's data more transparent, controlled, trusted, and compliant with rules.
To ensure the data is safe, it is necessary to follow internal organizational policies while adhering to external regulatory compliance. That's where Salesforce Shield steps up, providing a strong security solution that goes beyond the basics, making sure your data stays not just safe but fortified against the challenges of the digital world.
Salesforce Shield has three primary features – Shield Platform Encryption, Event Monitoring, and Field Audit Trail. Let’s get into the details of them all.?

1. Shield Platform Encryption
A significant enhancement over Classic Encryption, Shield Platform Encryption takes data protection to new heights. While Classic Encryption protects only specific custom fields, Platform Encryption expands its reach, encrypting both standard and custom fields. It not only secures data but also considers use cases like search, workflows, and approvals, allowing you to customize and fine-tune data validation.
2. Event Monitoring
Event Monitoring is another tool in the Shield suite that helps to access essential insights by tracking over 50 event types within the Salesforce ecosystem – from access and web clicks to API calls and report runs.?
Accessible through APIs, Event Monitoring stores event details in an API standard object called EventLogFile.
3. Field Audit Trail
Field Audit Trail is the third pillar, helping organizations meet rigorous audit requirements on their Salesforce org. Enabling tracking for a variety of standard and custom objects, Audit Trail lets you set policies to retain archived history data for up to a decade.?
So, Salesforce Shield isn’t just an add-on for your CRM; it’s a necessity to keep your data secure.
In the world of data security, remember, it's not about hoping for the best; it's about being ready for anything. With Salesforce Shield, you're not just ready – you're secure.

11 个月Let’s be clear about what platform encryption really means. Data in transit is already encrypted when using HTTPS. Shield extends this by encrypting this data when at rest - meaning when stored on disk in a Salesforce data center. So who are we trying to protect our data from? Salesforce themselves - the operators of the data centres whose #1 principal is trust? The data centres themselves are secured to the nth degree and have never had a breach (to the best of my knowledge). 20% extra on top of your annual licence spend is a lot to pay for what??
The emphasis on being ready for anything in the realm of data security is a powerful takeaway. An insightful piece for organizations navigating the complexities of safeguarding their digital assets.
