A Concept Map for the Finnish Quantum Ecosystem- A look back in time

Himadri Majumdar’s LinkedIn post about SemiQon in the #Finland environment inspired me to dig up a Concept Map that I drew in a brainstorming exercise, 2 years ago. The full map is below:

With the embedded ‘logic’ and ‘constraints’ in the arrows, the Concept Map helped me to visualize, from the key features I knew of the Finnish quantum ecosystem (yes, IQM is famous in Finland and beyond), what might help the Finns to grow their quantum ecosystem in more dimensions?

At the time, two years ago, I came up with these main points:

• More university Spin-offs - Aalto is famous, but others?, including more qubit modalities
• Upskilling VTT for more quantum workers
• Find out: What is the balance between publicly funded and privately funded quantum products and services?
• More cross-fertilization between academia and industry
• Meeting Society needs and wants. Good themes for their Use Cases: Sustainability, NetZero

After watching SemiQon’s rise and learning more about the other Finnish companies like Quanscient , and Algorithmiq , I see that my 2022 brainstorming was pretty good.?Finland has been growing in all of the ways that I hoped it would grow.
