Where Do You See Yourself in 10 Years?
It’s a powerful question to ask yourself: Where am I going?
In ten years, you will arrive somewhere— the real question is where?
We must be honest with ourselves about the path we’re on and the destination we’re heading towards.
At 34, after a pivotal conversation with a friend, I had what I call my “Do Not Kid Myself Anymore” day.
I realized that wishing and hoping wouldn’t lead me to the life I wanted.
The so-called "crossed-finger theory" wasn't where the treasure was buried.
Instead, I had to take full responsibility for my direction.
With my friend's guidance, I embraced a few essential disciplines—intellectual, mental, and practical.
These small but consistent changes shaped my future, proving that sometimes it’s not about massive overhauls, but fine-tuning the little things.
We often think we need to do 90% more to change our fortunes, but often it's just an extra 5-10%—a slight refinement in thought and action.
The key lies in these incremental improvements.
Small, purposeful changes today can lead to substantial equity in one, three, five, or ten years.
The time to set the course for the next decade is now.

When my friend first asked me, "Are you reading the books that will take you where you want to go in the next five years?" it was a wake-up call.
The question is simple, yet profound.
To get where you want to be, you must engage in the right disciplines, whether it’s reading the right books or adopting the right habits.
The danger lies in disillusionment—hoping without acting, wishing without doing.
The key is to assess your current position and ask, What can I do to ensure I’m moving toward my desired future—mentally, personally, spiritually, financially?
This is the moment to refine your daily routine and align it with the road that leads to your ultimate goals.
At 36, I became the CEO of Gleneagles Hospital, a milestone that didn’t happen by chance.
It was the result of small, consistent changes and a relentless commitment to never deceive myself about where I was headed.
Start today, make those small adjustments, and before you know it, you’ll find yourself on a new path, moving toward the future you envision.

1 个月Well spoken. Acting on it is the most assured way. Thinking does nothing unless we have Professor X's super power. It is inspirational that you were the CEO at 36years old with great leadership and setting the direction.
Thank you, Tim, you are so right! We have to stick with our key objectives. Fighting fires is important but they they should not change our priorities.
