In our wonderful world daily there comes new revelations defining the future. Take for example this morning's CCC post, "The law, which goes into effect on July 1, means that anyone who can legally own a gun in Florida can carry a concealed gun in public without any training or background check. 'Constitutional Carry is in the books,' DeSantis said."
Now while no one admits it, America's obsession with gun ownership comes from their defeat of British rule "because we had guns". It is in their psyche but the question is why someone already much loved and vying to become President would need to push a controversial issue such as gun carry which would immediately have estranged some of his potential followers? Is this intended to draw a line in the sand against Democratic voters showing he is prepared to take on any issue or has he counted on some magical support from the gun lobby guaranteeing he can win over Trump. Would you bring this up in shadow of the recent school shootings?
So going into the next Presidential election, can one with a DeSantis Presidential win see it lead to a universal push for every citizen over sixteen, not even yet allowed to drink, being able to go to the corner store to buy and then keep a gun in their pocket or lunch bag without further check? The mind boggles where 45% of of American households already have at least one firearm and the population of around 80% of 335 million's over 16 could eventually be walking around secretly armed. Are people worried about seeing America slip from its number one position and is there an underlying fear against China or Russia requiring citizens to fully arm? Such a drive to total armament would be the extreme but the decision just made is so difficult to rationalise beyond wanting people to emigrate...
