The Comtech RECON VSAT Family of Systems (FoS) provides a modernized COTS solution for tactical satellite communications. The RECON FoS was designed to be modular across all terminals and provide product life-cycle sustainability. RECON supports Ka Band (Mil and Commercial), X Band, and Ku Band operational frequencies. The terminals can be set up by one person in 10 minutes or less and can be brought in-network within 15 minutes.
The RECON FoS antennas have been designed to provide industry-leading transmit and receive gain. RECON terminals are available in apertures of 75-centimeter, 98-centimeter, 1.3-meter (pictured), 2.4-meter, utilize unique bayonet transceiver attachments, and allow for the use of common and interchangeable RF components across the entire RECON FoS. The modularity of the RECON FoS allows sub 30 second RF component transitions while maintaining antenna satellite alignment. The system’s modem agnostic design supports industry standard L-Band modems (5650C, CBM-400, iDirect and others) via external inputs. ?Furthermore, with RECON Comtech also provides our embedded software called ACQ Fast which allows for expedient satellite acquisition for experienced or inexperienced users. ACQ Fast also includes a spectrum monitoring capability as a troubleshooting tool to enhance and maintain signal acquisition. These combined features make the RECON the most efficient and configurable tactical SATCOM Terminal on the market.
