Computing What Next ?

During the last few decades we have we have seen tremendous increase in the computing power as per Moore's Law. Intel has been the driving force behind the innovation leaving others way behind. Moore's laws seems to have hit a bottleneck. This provides opportunities for new innovations in computing. While software has redefined networking, storage and many other aspects, hardware constraints force us to rethink about using the silicon real-estate more efficiently. FPGAs have made their mark but not on a massive scale as such.
There are many other paradigm shifts happening. The cloud computing has moved computing/data centres out of the enterprises.
Similarly a paradigm shift will happen in the silicon. In the coming decades software will lead silicon rather then the other way. Intel can no longer lead the way it has done so far by focusing only on the silicon (its time to move out, can no longer just stay Inside !!).
The time is ripe now for newer innovations in computing and others who lost the race to intel get a new opportunity.
