Comprehensive way to teach!

I wonder how would it be if teaching was done in a more comprehensive and engaging manner right from the childhood days. Students should be encouraged and be able to explain or write any topic in a concise fashion. I would like to share my thought about a way to inculcate the behavior in kids.

Why is comprehension important?

Comprehension is an essential skill to succeed in life and career. Its important to be able to comprehend both written and verbal communication. In addition to the business skills, one's professional success is significantly dependent on the listening and comprehension skills.

How can we nurture this skill in students?

There is an opportunity to drastically change teaching methodology in schools and there by nurture the listening and comprehensive skill.

Teaching methodology:

Students are to be split into various groups and advised to write 10 main take away points from a given chapter and with explanation as to why those points were important.

Each group shares their points and their explanation for considering the point to be important.

All the common and distinct points between groups will be discussed with the whole class by the teacher and finally consolidate any missing important points and close the chapter after thoroughly discussing each points merits and demerits as applicable.

Benefits for kids and teachers.

5.Exchange of ideas.

What a beautiful way of teaching the kids!!Almost all the subjects can be taught that way with exceptions to languages and Maths I guess.
