Comprehensive Office Interior Design Rendering Guide: A Case Study to Understand Office Interior Rendering

Office interior design has undergone significant changes in recent years, especially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. People are now expecting either to work from home, or at hybrid work environments. At the same time, designers are incorporating features like improved ventilation, touchless technologies, and flexible layout to promote a healthier workplace. But before walls are built and furniture arranged, how do you see this ideal environment? This is where the power of 3D interior rendering comes in. Office interior design rendering is an indispensable tool in bringing visions to reality.

Our team at AIMIR CG recently had the privilege of collaborating with a forward-thinking design company, Switzer Group. This time, we worked together to bring their vision for a future office to life. Through the process of 3D interior rendering, we were able to create stunningly realistic visuals that not only captured the essence of the design, but also facilitated informed decision-making throughout the construction process. We’re glad to know the construction is now completed. So, let’s enjoy some of the Visuals vs. Reality!

The 3D Interior Rendering Process of an Office Project

Our journey began with a collaborative meeting with the client, where we delved into their aspirations for the new office space. We understood the importance of creating a functional yet inspiring environment that reflected their brand identity and fostered a sense of community. So the collaboration started with understanding the project.

About the Project

In the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon, USA, a modern, collaborative workspace that seamlessly blended functionality with aesthetics is in process. It is for a large financial firm who prefers to keep confidential. As Portland is known as the “City of Bridges”, the interior designer melt “bridge” elements into the design.

The design shows the bridge elements are used in the ceiling and café screen.

To bring this vision to life, we created five stunning 3D renders. They not only capture the essence of the design but also serve as a guiding beacon throughout the construction phase. Equipped with detailed floor plans, material specifications, and design inspiration, our 3D team embarked on the following steps:

3D Modeling

The foundation of any successful rendering project lies in meticulous 3D modeling. The client had prepared a basic SketchUp model. So what we did was to refine it by importing into 3ds Max. Our skilled 3D modelers meticulously recreated the architectural elements of the space, from walls and ceilings to doors and windows. Because the architect provided a detailed FF&E information, we strictly followed the plan. At last, furniture, lighting fixtures, and even decorative elements were carefully modeled to ensure a complete and realistic representation.

Material Application

Once the structure was established, the magic of bringing the space to life began. We meticulously applied high-resolution textures to each element, meticulously replicating the look and feel of intended materials like wood, glass, and fabric. This meticulous attention to detail is crucial in achieving a photorealistic outcome.

Lighting Design

Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping the ambiance and functionality of any space. Our 3D artists created various lighting scenarios within the 3D environment. This allowed the client to visualize the interplay of natural and artificial light. Meanwhile, it enabled them to make informed decisions about lighting placement and type, ensuring the space would be well-lit for various activities.

Rendering amp; Refinement

With the groundwork laid, it was time to render the final visuals. The 3D specialists utilized advanced rendering software to generate high-resolution images. In order to achieve this, we captured the intricate details of the 3D model, textures, and lighting. Finally, five photorealistic 3D renders that captured the essence of the future office space were created.

Additional View: Plan B for the Café Space

As the project progressed, our client, driven by a commitment to perfection, sought an additional view to explore an alternative design scenario. They came up with a “Plan B”. In this plan, the color scheme of the cupboards of the café space was changed from the original cool grey to navy blue. This nuanced alteration aimed to inject a fresh vibrancy into the space while maintaining the overall coherence of the design. As a result, our CG team created a navy version café space at no extra cost. Because the workload was manageable, we prioritized client satisfaction over financial considerations.

The Final Delivery: A Bridge from Conception to Completion

The final delivery consisted of six breathtaking 3D renders showcasing different areas of the office, including the open-plan workspace, private meeting rooms, and a dedicated relaxation area.

Reality Meets Virtual

As the construction dust settles, a striking realization dawns: the tangible space mirrors the virtual representations with an awe-inspiring accuracy that transcends expectations. The exquisite detailing, from the play of natural light on bespoke furnishings to the nuanced textures of cupboards, attests to the authenticity embedded in our rendering process. Now, let’s enjoy some photos of the office.

Beyond the Case Study: Frequently Asked Questions about Office Interior Rendering

As the demand for 3D visualization in the design industry continues to grow, several questions frequently arise:

– How much does it cost to get office interior renders?

The cost of office interior rendering varies based on several factors, including the complexity of the project, the number of views required, and the desired level of detail. However, it’s crucial to remember that rendering is an investment, not just an expense. It can save time and money by minimizing costly changes during construction and ensuring informed decision-making throughout the design process. Also, just like this project, our team do not charge for extra if the workload is management. We are dedicated to making our clients satisfied.

– Which rendering software is best for office interior design?

Several powerful rendering software options are available, each with its own strengths and learning curve. Popular choices include V-Ray, Corona Renderer, and 3ds Max. The best software for your project depends on your specific needs and budget. You can read our recommendation list of Best Interior Design Software and Best Software for Architectural Visualization.

– How long does an office interior rendering take?

The timeline for an office interior rendering project can vary depending on the complexity of the design, the number of views, and the required level of detail. However, a typical project involving several high-quality renders might take anywhere from two to seven days.

The Power of Visualization: A Final Note

In conclusion, this office project in Portland exemplifies the transformative power of 3D interior rendering in bringing an office design vision to life.
