Composites Lounge major co-operation with JEC Group in 2024 and beyond on Enduser Events and regional JEC Forums
Welcome to our eighths LinkedIn Newsletter Composites Community. We will cover these topics shortly before the showdown in Paris next week:
We have added some more recipients to our LinkedIn Newsletter by Composites Lounge, because we increased our reach over the last few weeks through several online and real-life encounters. If you received this newsletter, it is good news, because it has been presented to you by your recommendation feed on LinkedIn , or even better you subscribed for it. If you receive it through email we co-operate in some way in the composites market, events or other content outlets with you. If you wish not to be educated, informed or "techentertained" by Composites Lounge in the future about innovation, technology and sustainability: simply unsubscribe below. No questions asked.
Enduser Events and JEC Forums in our Focus for 2024
Good news for you, because the leadership of JEC Group and Composites Lounge decided to elevate the community building and mobilization further.
There are a couple of pillars that we want to introduce to you with our firm intention to provide you extreme added value in your own business development in composites and lightweight technologies
Pillar one: Enduser Events and Exhibitions
The purpose why we will showcase a handful enduser events and exhibitions is that we want to connect our admittedly innovative and technological driven industry more with the endusers.
As Composites Lounge we have observed that often there is this question in the board meetings or working groups:
What does the customer really need?
What sounds a bit straight forward to answer is often not the case. The world is complex and everything is connected. Working in composites requires connecting these dots (as illustrated by our logo) and this is what we will aim for with the enduser events.
Let us give you an example, to illustrate our path to connecting these dots:
Just yesterday the BDLI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. and Composites Lounge agreed to hold a panel on battery technology for electric flying at the upcoming ILA Berlin - Pioneering Aerospace .
Ilkay ?zkisaoglu , Co-Founder of Composites Lounge will host this session at the Aviation Future Lab Stage on 6 June 2024 at 4pm.
Electric planes like the V?RIDION heavily rely on lightweight technologies based on composites. Battery is an essential part and how it will be integrated in the fuselage plays an important role. But not only the integration, also the BMS (battery management system) needs to work properly to obtain EASA and FAA approval says CustomCells , a battery engineering and producing company.
This is certainly true for smaller aircraft design, but what about the larger ones?
In this panel therefore Composite Technology Center / CTC GmbH (An Airbus Company) will take the stance that aviation is not one-dimensional.
Whether we talk about clean sheet design, as preferred by Vaeridion or retrofit engineering, we will cover live from Berlin these topics on the future of aerospace.
Please press the particpate button here in this LinkedIn event to get the latest news around the panel:
Further enduse events around the following market sectors are in the making:
Subscribe to our Composites Lounge Channel and this newsletter to stay updated on them.
Also, if you have composite solutions or are embedded in the valuechain of aforementioned industries, please contact Ilkay ?zkisaoglu to discuss your seat on some of these panel events.
Pillar two: JEC FORUM DACH, Italy, and more regional exhibitions to come soon
We started already to cover JEC Forum DACH and Italy and we are going to repeat this for 2024 and 2025. There are some further international regional composite events that may be co-organized by JEC and Composites Lounge will be also taking responsibility to cover those events on LinkedIn. JEC with their international content hub plus Composites Lounge with its massive presence on LinkedIn creates so much value and synergies.
To kick the JEC Forum season off, please attend to these three dedicated JEC Forum sessions at the VIP Lounge (registration required!) happening right at JEC World.
It's a great opportunity for you to see how these forums can open up new opportunities for your business.
Here's what you need to know:
We believe the JEC Forums are a fantastic way for you to connect, learn, and grow in the composites industry. They're all about bringing people together to share ideas, drive innovation and foster business through a powerful One to One Meetings program in Southeast Asia, in the DACH Region and in Italy.
During these presentations, JEC will be providing a variety of delicious finger foods and drinks for you to enjoy. It's a perfect backdrop for some casual conversation and networking.
Spaces are limited, so please let them know if you can make it. Just click on the button “Book your presence” or feel free to reach out to Anne-Carole Barbarin should you need any further information.

Looking forward to hopefully seeing you there and diving into all the possibilities JEC Forums can offer your business.
Pillar three: Company visits and interviews on Site in conjunction with JEC FORUM DACH in Stuttgart (2024) and Dresden (2025)
A new format that we think will be valuable for building the composites community further, is that JEC Group and Composites Lounge gives you insights into renowned brands in the manufacturing and/or engineering sectors that will be close to the respective forum's location.
Please let us know, if you have something extraordinary to show and are happy to open your doors for the community.

Giorgio Betteto will be visiting JEC World and we agreed to meet in order to talk about recycling composites. Since, this is an overarching theme and often considered as a roadblock to select composites in the first place, we want to show you what innovative thinking, process technologies can contribute to sustainable products.
Even having quartz surfaces on recycled composites panels ensure harsh use, like in household kitchens. Stay tuned for European Commission supported solutions.
Langzauner GmbH from Austria has reason to celebrate with you! Visit their booth to celebrate 100 years of existence. I will be interviewing Alexander Wiesner and his team on the press plus automatisation technology. Watch a sneak preview here in the video:
With Holger Plasser we will run over voidsy gmbh 's innovative technology:
Their destruction-free 3D V-ROX system particularly focuses on unique aspects such as the multi-dimensional reconstruction process and its ability to conduct non-destructive testing using active thermography.
We will compare advantages over conventional testing methods like traditional non-destructive methods that is ultrasound or computed tomography.
Factors of speed, accuracy, and safety play an ever increasing role in quality assurance and that's why there are so many benefits for industries and end-users that we will elaborate with voidsy, who is a sub-exhibitor on ENGEL 's booth (5L106).
Success story with ENGEL continues
Their partnerships have proven to be extremely fruitful, and this year voidsy gmbh will again be attending JEC World 24 together to demonstrate their joint dedication to innovation and excellence. ENGEL develops innovative technologies and customized system solutions for the plastics industry. Together they are ready to show the industry their system in a real production environment.

Praise on Carbon Composites
Financial Times explains:
Aviation experts said the images of the burning JAL A350 showed that the composite structure appeared to withstand the heat for a long time. Aluminium melts at about 600 degrees Celsius and, although composites would burn at a lower temperature, they reacted differently to fire, said Emile Greenhalgh, professor of composite materials at Imperial College in London. "As the material burns, all the flammable material forms a char layer?.?.?.[so] you end up with a barrier against the progression of fire.”

Technology Transfer Program in Lightweight Technologies has been cancelled by the Federal Republic of Germany: German Community reactions form
After Minister Robert Habeck announced happily on the 4th Lightweighting Summit in April 2024 (listen to it here on Spotify) at HANNOVER MESSE
just seven month ago Germany's lightweight technology community was happier than ever before, because the lightweight strategy passed through the federal parliament.
The federal government's lightweight construction strategy was provided for in the coalition agreement and the opening balance sheet on climate protection. Under the leadership of the BMWK, the BMWK and seven other ministries, namely BMAS, BMEL, BMG, BMDV, BMUV, BMBF and BMWSB, participated in the creation. In addition, the lightweight construction Community and the public involved. The strategy pursues a holistic, cross-sector and cross-material approach that addresses all three dimensions of sustainability – ecology, economy and society. The implementation of the federal government's lightweight construction strategy is intended to make a decisive contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and primary raw material consumption and also reduce dependencies on energy and raw material imports. The aim is to provide a platform for the exchange on lightweight construction between the departments and departments involved via a joint meeting once in each legislative period.

Some 140 Million Euros have meanwhile vanished into thin air. Even though some already committed funds will be paid out, the majority will receive rejections these days on their applications.
Composites Germany association has already written protest letters to the Bundesministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Energie, Mobilit?t, Innovation & Technologie , but hope is little, that parliament will restore this fund anytime soon.
Composites Lounge is in consultation with associations, clusters and institutions, and will contact the ministry soon to see what future potentials there are to support required scientific research on innovation, technology and sustainability actions.
Secretary of State to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection Mr Michael Kellner was interviewed on 7 March 2023. At that time all looked pretty promising. Watch our LinkedIn Live in replay here
