Completion Over Quitting: Stack Your Deck for New Opportunities

Completion Over Quitting: Stack Your Deck for New Opportunities

Entering Eclipse Season

We are entering “eclipse” season now over the next few weeks. You may be curious like me to look up the astrology of full moons and eclipses.

I’m not an authority on astrology but the energy of a full moon is the completion phase of a cycle, and the energy of a new moon is the initial or starting phase of a new cycle. These moon cycles eb and flow with the tides of the ocean and nature controls these continuous cycles of energy in motion. What stands out to me when I read about eclipses is the concept of endings and things being “eclipsed” out of our life. This sounds like it could be a startling or sudden finish of something either with either a positive or negative outcome. This may plant the seed of curiosity as we watch the sky during these eclipses.

What I learned about completion came from my teacher, who said no matter what, always bring things to completion to have the best outcome for new opportunities to show up.?There are many reasons that you may be ready to end something whether it is a job, a career, a habit, or a relationship. Our lifetime is full of cycles of beginnings and endings. We continue to learn, evolve, and grow throughout these cycle changes.

Completion is Important

The principle of completion is important and very crucial to support our onward growth and evolution. Sometimes we are at a natural finishing place and it is easy to wind things down and bring them to a clear finish. Other times it can be very hard to extricate ourselves from events, people and situations. This takes thoughtful planning, clear boundaries, and honest communication.

If something feels too hard, too complicated or too overwhelming we may be seduced to quit rather than to meet the confrontation of the experience that is in front of us. We only see the barrier of the “too hard or too much” rather than the willingness to meet the edge of something that will not only stretch us to grow but also to increase our measure of self-worth after meeting the confrontation that is waiting to teach us our fullest potential at our edge. In this case completion, how we follow through on something, through to the end-which brings empowerment.

There may be times when we feel that we failed or that something we have been engaging with just didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to or meet our expectations. This can be tempting to simply bail out and quit, or to flip the switch and be done. But you never really know where the next door will appear to open. Doorways are portals that we step through and the interesting thing about these doors that appear as opportunities, is that we will never see what is on the other side of the door until we step through.

Turning Points to Your Destiny

Looking back you may see these synchronous events as turning points in your destiny where something ended and a new opportunity suddenly presented itself. When one door closes another one opens as they say. It’s essential, and more Dharmic, to leave behind a clear, clean trail and not an energetic mess of resentment, unfinished business or sticky relationships. You never know when your past will be a portal into a new opportunity to grow. Taking the steps towards completion will go far to clear the decks and open up a clear path to your destiny.
