This article is very useful for anyone who:
Before we begin, Let’s discuss what exactly are Clear Aligners:
Clear Aligners are transparent trays that are made of special FDA approved plastic material which is used to straighten teeth just like the conventional braces.
It uses gentle and a constant force to move teeth in required positions without going through the hassles and the pain of metal wires and brackets.
How do these work?
They are custom made for each and every person, and are designed to shift the disordered teeth in the desired direction very slowly.
On average, a person needs approximately 25-40 sets for complete alignment.
These aligners come along with some advantages i.e. these fits perfectly with the teeth which over a period becomes virtually a part of the body and hence it doesn’t cause any speech problems. There are also no restrictions on eating and drinking any foods as the person has to remove them before every meal.
Ever since aligners have come in the market, these are becoming more and more popular whenever someone thinks of straightening the teeth. Due to which traditional braces are being replaced with the aligners at a rapid speed.
It has helped people to not hold back their smile.
How Clear Aligners are made?
Aligner treatments are designed by an orthodontist, they use 3D scanners to take the digital impressions of the teeth. These designs are then 3D printed, post which the clear aligners are thermoformed from a transparent material that gives a code of invisibility.
Detailed Information:
Once the 3D files of the treatment are ready, our team goes ahead with the following workflow :
a. Printing the models: There are multiple 3D Printing technologies available. The most suitable for this application are resin based technologies like Stereolithography(SLA) and digital light processing (DLP).
We have high end industrial grade DLP machines that are solely designed for the purpose of 3D Printing Clear Aligner Models, they can print about 3 models in roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
b.?Post-Processing of 3D Printed: As soon as the printed parts are available to take out of the Machine, we remove the unwanted supports, and send it to cleaning and polishing.
c.?Thermoforming: The 3D printed models are then placed in a thermoforming machine where a sheet of transparent thermoplastic material is heated and allowed to set on the dental arch by a vacuum. There are different types of thermoplastic sheets which are used basis the kind of case being treated.
d.?Quality Assessment & Sorting: Post manufacturing, our team conducts an end to end quality assessment of the aligners. Quality checks happen in two stages, post 3D printing and post thermoforming. Our team then carefully sorts all these models case wise and according to the treatment plan of each patient. We have developed in house processes to streamline this activity while doing it at high volumes on a daily basis.
e. Packaging & Dispatch: The final stage is packing the aligners in custom packaging for our different customers. In some case we ship these models directly to the end consumer, while some we ship to our B2B customers who then inspect and dispatch themselves.
Your clear aligners are now ready to unlock your smile.
