Please find below a list of scholarship providers to fund the Bar course.
The Inns of Court
The Inns of Court are the biggest provider of Bar course scholarships. You can apply to one Inn from the below:
Deadline: applications usually open in September and close at the start of November.
The Family Law Bar Association
- for students with a family law pupillage
Awards amounts of up to ￡25,000 to fund applicants intending to practise in family law. It is a precondition of the scholarship award that any applicant has obtained a family law pupillage in chambers which wholly or primarily undertakes family law work.

The Midlands Circuit
- for students studying in the Midlands
Midland Circuit awards a scholarship up to the value of ￡15,000 for a candidate who undertakes the BPTC at a Midland Provider, namely BPP Law School Birmingham, The University of Law Birmingham, or Nottingham Law School . The course can be completed full or part time.

Sikh Education Council and Mukhtiar Singh
- for students who have faced financial and social disadvantage
Sikh Education Council and Mukhtiar Singh awards up to five prizes of ￡555 and up to 12 months of mentoring.

Leonard Sainer Legal Education Foundation
- for law students studying at UCL Faculty of Laws
Awards two scholarships of ￡15,000 and used towards the LPC or BPTC for students in financial need who are committed to practice in social welfare law areas.
Deadline: usually February
CPS Anthony Walker Scholarship
- open to law students from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background studying at a university in the North West or Merseyside
￡5,000 for your second undergraduate year, or sponsorship for the first year of your Bar Practice Course, Legal Practice Course or Solicitors Qualifying Examination.
Bar Course Institutions
Most Bar course providers offer scholarships and bursaries to their students, ranging from small amounts to full fee. It is best to check the website of the providers you are applying to.
