The Complete Guide to Twitter Marketing Campaign For Consulting Firms

The Complete Guide to Twitter Marketing Campaign For Consulting Firms

Twitter has become interestingly popular among a wider range of audiences with almost 353 million active users in 2020. From just being a ‘Microblogging’ system that allows users to send and receive short posts called tweets, it now lets brands speak to their audience in real-time.

In this article, I will share some quick and powerful insights about the Twitter marketing campaigns I ran in past and their results and take you through the journey of how Twitter is one of the best social media marketing platforms for consulting firms.

Why Twitter?

Twitter is the 5th most popular social media network and has more than 145 million active daily users, and 500 million tweets are sent every day on Twitter. This data itself is enough for a marketer to not miss an opportunity to be on Twitter.

Here are 7 most powerful pieces of advice on “Twitter Marketing Campaign For Consulting Firms”

#1 Customize Your Twitter Profile:

Make your first impressions engaging as it says a lot about the brand itself. Customize your profile based on the type of audience and nature of the industry.

The very first thing customer looks at on your Twitter profile is the name and profile picture. So, customize it and make it unique. Then, comes the Twitter bio which is 160 characters long use it to convey everything customers need to know about your brand and don’t forget to add the link to your website.

There are few locations you can customize on your Twitter feed apart from your bio:

  • Twitter Handle: Your Twitter handle is your username for example the company I work for “AQ Network” mentions the company’s name so that the followers, customers, and fans can easily search and find you on the platform.
  • Website URL: Beneath your profile picture and bio, there’s a location where you can include your URL to direct traffic straight to your website.

#2 Build A Brand Voice:

If you aren’t working towards something specific, you’re likely to spend more than you should. So, it’s better to build a brand voice that customers recognize easily.

It takes a consistent and engaging brand personality to build a brand voice and community engagement on Twitter. That’s why a well-defined brand voice is an important part of your marketing toolkit.

Follow these easy steps to build a better brand voice:

  • Be Authentic and Be Unique: connect with customers and build trust with them. Each of your tweets should be unique, otherwise, you’ll seem spammy

  • Show personality: Your brand voice should be consistent across all your social media platforms and communicate your brand values. Are you edgy? Funny? Inspirational? Bold? These qualities should be conveyed through your tweets.
  • Be human: No one likes a tweet that sounds like it came from a robot or a script.

#3 Tweet During Peak Hours

There’s always a certain day of the week or times of day when users are more active on Twitter, meaning they’ll actually be more likely to engage with your posts.

Figuring out how to use Twitter effectively often means knowing when to post to best reach your audience. For instance:

  • Friday is the best day to post on Twitter
  • The best time to post on Twitter is between 9 am and 10 am
  • The safest times to post on Twitter every day are between 10 am and 12 pm
  • Sunday mornings are the worst for engagement on Twitter

Your peak posting times will depend on your specific audience, so test how your content performs at different times and days to find out what works best for your brand.

  • Tweet at least once a day to maintain a high level of engagement with your followers. Remember to experiment with posting more frequently too.
  • Use Twitter Analytics data to adjust your timing as you learn more about your audience and their preferences.

  • There is always something trending on Twitter, use those metrics wisely and tweet if it connects with your brand's followers or audience.

#4 Use Images & Videos in your tweet

A picture is worth 1000 words, which is especially useful on Twitter, where you only have 280 characters to work with.

Visual assets can help you communicate more with each tweet. Use an appealing image or video to further push your content on Twitter. A video can help you capture and hold attention, ideal for product launches or campaigns.

“According to research from Kantar Millward Brown, 97% of people on Twitter focus on visuals.”

Below is the example of the Twitter Marketing campaign I ran for “AQ Network” which has almost 3000 organic impressions on a single post and which includes an image to further simplify the message of Tweet.

#5 Engage With Your Followers

Without engagement with your content, all you have is a number, not a real follower list.

To engage with your audience:

  • Keep track of your network: Read your followers’ tweets and use them to learn more about your customers’ preferences, emerging trends in the industry and more.
  • Respond fast: People expect brands to be responsive on Twitter. One study shows that 42% of consumers plan to get a response from a brand within 60 minutes. Let your customers know you care by getting back to them fast.

  • Retweet, interact and follow: Show your audience you value them by retweeting their content, responding to their queries following them on Twitter and more.
  • Ask questions and get interactive: Have conversations with your audience. Host polls and ask for their opinions on relevant topics to do with your brand. Hold a competition to get people excited about your company.

# 6 Experiment with new tactics:

We have never been so flooded with information and news as we are nowadays.

As shocking as it sounds — a day-old tweet is considered archaic, and to stay on top of your game, you not only need to produce content frequently but also ensure that you put a sufficient amount of value in each of your 280-word pieces of text.

By trying innovative things and experimenting is when you learn something new. The technique I used for my “Twitter Marketing Campaign” is using rhetorical questions, how-to’s, and tips and tricks tweets, you are allowing your audience to decide whether you have the knowledge they wish to possess too.

Another such example is by effectively using "Twitter polls" which allow you to pose questions and offer up to four answers to choose from. Polls are a great way to engage your audience because they’re simple and fun.

# 7 Keep track of your analytics

Analyze your Tweet data to understand your followers.

Every word, photo, video, and follower can have an impact.

Personally, my favourite part of the Twitter Marketing campaign is “Twitter Analytics” it shows you how your audience is responding to your content, what's working, and what's not.

Use this data to optimize your future Twitter campaigns and get better results.

Consider which metrics matter to you and then determine how you’re going to track them.

  • Engagement: Look at the number of retweets, follows, replies, favourites, and click-throughs your tweets get.
  • Impressions: Review the number of times your tweets appeared on one of your audience members’ timelines.
