Training new talent in recruitment agencies
It’s important not to overload a new person with too much content from the beginning and aim to keep the sessions fast-paced, fun, and most importantly relevant to the stage they are at.? By this I mean we teach someone the parts of the process they need to know to perform the part of their role we are expecting them to do.? It’s also worth remembering that people learn in different ways, so the design of the learning intervention needs to be balanced, with a good amount or practical elements as people will typically learn most through experience. Whilst role play isn’t always enjoyable, it’s hugely beneficial!?
Training your staff: tips for any industry
There have been considerable advancements now in the way learning is delivered, with a general shift away from just tick-box training to impactful learning.? Training is just one-way learning can be delivered, and in a lot of cases it’s not the most appropriate method.? Self-directed learning, coaching, mentoring, group learning or workshops as well as e-learning are also highly effective, so it’s about selecting the best approach to meet the learning need.?
?Crucially, it’s about being really clear on what the performance outcome is you want to achieve, and making sure you measure the impact it’s had on the individuals and wider business.
How to make training more manageable and accessible for people
I think this ties in with making sure you have a range of resources that people can access that’s not just training. Having a mentoring program for one, and also making sure you are running bite-sized sessions or micro-learning that doesn’t take up a big part of peoples day.? The shift to online learning and the use of virtual classrooms is also key, if you aren’t skilling yourself up in delivering virtual learning sessions you risk missing out on learning opportunities. ? Upskilling in this area has become pretty essential for every L&D professional since the pandemic.
?Having an LMS or LXP may not be suitable for all organisations and the take-up in e-learning remains challenging, but there are definite advantages to being able to host content that people can access at the time they need. We currently don’t use either as it stands, but have created a Learning Hub Channel within Teams which you can use to host useful content is a great work-around.
