Solutions Engineers are a hybrid of the Solutions Architect, Product Influencer, and Developer Advocate roles. Our team consists of a group of software engineers for Solution Engineering Services. They work on challenging proofs of concept, consult with customers on various integrations to meet their current requirements and work with multiple technical audiences, including open-source contributors to customer engineering teams.

The organization's teams are close to our customers. They have the technical skills to create new libraries and integrations to support them so we can respond quickly to product design recommendations and improvements. Once we feel we've built something more broadly applicable (like DLO), we have the luxury of working with the product management team to turn it into a feature we'll make into the core product.

The IoT Technology stack is a set of technologies, standards, and technologies that go from simply connecting objects to the applications that use these connected things, the data they collect and communicate, and the various procedures required to power them.

Solution Engineering Differences

The Solution Engineering team is part of the Engineering organization and combines the roles of Solution Architect, Developer Advocate, and Product Influencer.

Solution Architects

Solution Architects are tasked with understanding the technical stacks and business problems of large customers in detail. Our solution engineers are a team of technical chameleons who speak the language of business and technology. By spending time advising clients, we learn about their tech stack and their business context. This highlights the potential for the platform to add value through integration with existing tools and custom solutions. We innovate, design, and build products and tools that help our customers maximize their return on investment.

Product Influencer

The Solution Engineering team is uniquely positioned to hear directly from our customers and turn that feedback into product ideas to share with our product teams. We listen carefully to our customers and identify areas where we can add value through new product features and turnkey integrations.

New projects can begin with solution engineers creating relevant design documents and sharing them with the product team and other stakeholders. This kind of organic growth serves the greater purpose of improving the customer experience while adding value through new product features.

Developer Advocate

As developers, we know the ups and downs of developing software. It brings this experience to its interactions with the developer community, helping them seamlessly integrate with the API and sharing its best practices for using engineering support use cases. It also creates a knowledge capital that makes the developer's life easier, reducing the time it takes to understand the user behaviour associated with the problem the developer is trying to rectify so that the developer can share their story. We strive to support and help you use it better.

Companies will begin to split the multi-disciplinary engineering team into more specialized roles as they grow. Over the next year, the expert team will form a service/solution architect team, with the remaining members shifting more focus to product influencer/developer advocacy roles. Despite the changes, we are all interested in contributing to our organization and its customers, building and contributing to our developer community, learning from more people, and perfecting our digital experiences.
