Competitor Collaboration, 2025 Healthcare Costs, & Employee Retention
For some time, I’ve been looking for one “source” that curates modern takes on HR Tech, perspectives from the people who build it, and its impact on enterprise — something that’s tailor-made by professionals for decision-makers.
I never found it — so I decided to build it.
Every week, I’ll be sharing fresh insights on tech platforms, design, data, and the future of work — straight to your inbox.
My Thoughts
As we wrap up 2024 and the spirit of the holidays is in full force, one particular story from this year has been on my mind. ??
Burton Snowboards and Union Binding Co. are two industry leaders and fierce competitors, yet they set aside their egos, shared proprietary technology with one another, and chose collaboration over rivalry.
Why? Because growing the sport they love was more important than protecting their corners of the market. ??
Collaboration can unlock opportunities that competition alone can’t, whether across industries or within our teams. ?? When we think beyond our own success and consider how to elevate the entire ecosystem, everyone—from the industry itself to the organizations and their customers—thrives. We need more of this.
Heading into the new year, I'm issuing this challenge to myself: Seek opportunities to foster more partnerships that create value for everyone involved. Care to join me? ??

The Changing Workplace
For the third year in a row, global healthcare costs are expected to jump by double digits, with the U.S. looking at a 10.2% increase in 2025, according to WTW’s Global Medical Trends Survey.
So, what’s driving these rising costs? It’s a mix of factors like inflation, advances in medical technologies, and a growing demand for mental health services. In fact, workplace leave cases related to mental health have skyrocketed by 300% since 2017.
While these challenges might seem daunting, they also open up a world of possibilities for employers and HR leaders to get creative. By exploring digital health tools, offering more well-being resources, and fine-tuning healthcare strategies, companies have a real chance to build healthier, more resilient teams.
