A recent survey conducted by Telegraph and Wick Insights from February 9th to 13th, 2023 concluded that Congressman Adam Schiff holds the lead for the highly contested California U.S. Senate seat but after message testing Congresswoman Barbara Lee gains a large margin of support in a close contest with Congresswoman Katie Porter.?

The results come a few days before the formal announcement from Congresswoman Dianne Feinstein that she would not be running for reelection after more than two decades of serving in Congress.?

“The survey is a clear indicator that the race is very far from decided with about a year remaining on the campaign trail before Election Day,” says Jim Ross, a California-based political consultant.?

Key Findings from the survey are:?

• California likely primary voters widely approve the work of Governor Gavin Newsom (56.1% approve)?
• Congressman Schiff holds the current lead of support in the Senate Race before message testing for the California U.S. Senate seat at 27.3% followed by?

- Congresswoman Katie Porter 18.2%

- Congresswoman Barbara Lee 6.0%

• After message testing the support for Congresswoman Barbara Lee more than doubled her total support to 14.5% with Congresswoman Katie Porter and Congressman Adam Schiff both gaining only 0.9% in total support.?
• Voters rank the top three issues facing California as homelessness, cost of housing and inflation.?

The 2024 California Election Survey was conducted by online panel from February 9th to 13th among a random sample of 750 likely 2024 primary voters using voter-ID matched online panel. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.6 percentage points. Results are weighted.?
