When I first heard about Shevlin’s book, I was really excited. Back when we were colleagues, we used to discuss books and movies frequently. Like many, I am a great fan of his work.
The first thing I noticed about his writing was the way he intricately tells the story with great detail. Reading his work feels like looking at a picture or watching a movie.

I truly enjoy his blog, 'Shevlin’s World,' due to its unique style and variety of topics.
When 'The Stolen Necklace' was published, I assured him that I would read it and write about it. Due to being a slow reader, I could only finish the book recently.
‘We cannot survive this brutal world without God’s help’ - this line speaks volumes about this book. V K Thajudheen’s story is incredibly peculiar, yet considering the current circumstances in the country, it's not that unusual.
More than just a survival story, 'The Stolen Necklace' delves into the realm of unwanted human suffering, delivering a powerful message that 'if it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone'. This thought fills my heart with fear.
Shevlin’s unique style of narrating a news story with all its details makes it a captivating read. It allows us to immerse ourselves in the protagonist's pain, ultimately connecting us with Thajudheen’s family and friends by the end.
'The Stolen Necklace' evokes feelings of anger and helplessness simultaneously through its words. We sympathise with the flaws in the system and worry about innocent people. I appreciate the idea of turning a crime story into a large-format creative piece, and Shevlin has executed it splendidly.
In my opinion, 'The Stolen Necklace' is a must-read, and I hope that Shevlin will continue to write more such compelling books.
