Compassionate Shark Tank Competition

Compassionate Shark Tank Competition

I recently had the incredible opportunity to speak at FGCU for their Veteran Entrepreneurship Program with a 2-hour Strategic Sales Workshop, followed by the honor of being a judge at their Compassionate Shark Tank Event. This was both memorable & fun and I'm so thankful for the chance to share some of my knowledge.

14 of the group’s veterans got up, one at a time, to do a 6-minute presentation that represented a culmination of their efforts during the program. They submitted an executive summary, financial projections, marketing plans, and breakdown of they what they were asking money for.

It was so amazing to be there and to help support everyone, to give them ideas and feedback, ask questions and find out where they want to take their business. There was a wide range of businesses represented (in all phases from pre-revenue, to up and running and looking to scale), from jet ski tours, to custom aluminum welding, to food truck that serves only desserts, to hydro-dipping, to karaoke event hosts, and so on.

They all did amazing, and of course, the hardest part was awarding the winners with funds and not being able to give money to everyone. Of course, it was a competition, but the great part is that we gave $60,000 out to 8 different entrepreneurs to help them take their businesses further.

And the best part? All of them are US military veterans wanting to do great things with their time, energy, and talents, and all of the businesses had some aspect of giving back to others, helping others, or just doing good, honest work for others. It was a great way to take my own experiences, talents, and ideas to help in any way.
