Compassionate Action

Dear Friends,
This is a short post.
In light of recent world events in the Middle East, the earthquake in Afghanistan and those communities having to rebuild their lives in Hawaii, Morocco, Turkey and other places, I wanted to say, with great humility, that there are things we can do to offer support from afar even in a small way.
Our thoughts and feelings are very powerful. When we watch the news, there are ways we can divert our thoughts and attention away from fear or negativity about what has happened into a source of support for others. This is called compassionate action. Examples include saying heartfelt statements of what we want for the greater good, either aloud or silently in our mind as follows:
- Let there be peace in the Middle East
- Let solutions be found to bring about peace
- Let the communities of Hawaii, Morocco, Afghanistan, Turkey .... return to peace, joy and prosperity
- Let love, healing and support be received by all those in need.
Our compassionate action is needed now more than ever and if you feel the call to use the above statements or come up with some of your own, I invite you to do so. I understand that if you've never done this, it may feel a little strange. Though I can assure you it's no different to sending your 'best wishes' to someone on their birthday or at christmas or similarly sending a 'get well' card to a friend who has been unwell. It's kind of the same thing.
Alternatively,
I know there are many amazing charities who are on the frontline doing the most courageous work and adding their support and resources to the areas affected. I know that Medicins Sans Frontiers, British Red Cross and DEC are amongst my top three that I donate to - I'm sure there are many others. Again, if you feel the call, you can donate any amount, however big or small, very easily; I have provided the links below, in case that's helpful. Of course, I appreciate you may have already made your own donations to other charities.
If you are reading this post, I would respectfully request that no comments are made in the comments section - though sending a heart is fine.
With heartfelt thanks for reading......
Debbie
