Quote:

"Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet."

- Thich Nhat Hanh

Reflection:

Every action we take, and the way we carry it out, impacts those around us. Consider how slamming a door can change the mood in a room or how a loud conversation at a nearby table can affect our dining experience. To "walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet" means to be compassionate and gentle in every action we take—whether with our speech, body, or mind.

If our aim is to be more compassionate—to be sympathetic and caring—then we can start by showing concern for those in our immediate surroundings. We can close the door softly, talk at a considerate level, hold the elevator for the next person, drive patiently, and smile at the grumpy barista.

Action:

Today, challenge yourself to be compassionate and gentle in everything you do—with what you say, how you act, and how you treat yourself.

Remember, how you do what you do matters. Do it gently.
