The New Year fast approaches! It's time to leverage the Power of the Fresh Start Effect

I love studying artists - people who create and approach life as a creative process - because I believe that we're ALL creative forces. I think of people you know like Maya Angelou or Leonardo da Vinci and people like Willie James Jones, Gabriel Amaro, Mamie Louise Jones, and Amaro Sotero Burgos — family elders who are (or were) intentional, powerful, creative forces through life and legacy. ????

They epitomize this Leonardo da Vince quote: "People of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things."

FROM FANTASY TO FORM — They framed ideas, they sculpted clay, they mixed pigments, they drafted plans. Sounds in their minds became notes on the page... became music and dance. Their mental scripts made it from mind, to page, to stage. They foresaw and seeded beautiful futures for their children and grand children — all in flow from tentative vision to tangible value.

DaVinci also said, "All knowledge which ends in words will die as quickly as it came to life, with the exception of the written word: which is its mechanical part," which sums up why I think it's so important to actually WRITE our reflections and plans.?

There is also groundbreaking science from Research conducted by Katherine L. Milkman and her team at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania regarding the tremendous impact of "fresh start moments" on goal setting and achievement. They discovered that individuals were a staggering 20% more likely to succeed in their pursuit of goals when initiating them on significant fresh start moments like their birthday, the first day of spring, with a life event (wedding, big move, etc), or a global fresh start like NEW YEARS.
