The Compass Foodbank, Mississauga

Any organizational leader today will tell you about the importance of team bonding, especially during moments of intensity and high stress. Teams just work better together, communicate better with clarity and intent, and can last longer because we're more connected. And that is what I feel my amazing team of Sales professionals got out of taking yesterday afternoon, March 14th, to volunteer at The Compass Foodbank in Mississauga: https://thecompass.ca/

As true as that is, that is not the most important revelation we walked away with. During the afternoon we met the heros of the Compass, Fiona, Steve, Jesse, and others, that show up everyday and give back to the people in this community. We had conversation between ourselves about social issues, economic issues like how expensive it is to eat healthy produce due to inflation, and just how to contribute in our day to day lives in a meaningful way.

The Compass Foodbank, is now supporting over 3,000 households in Mississauga, almost half of those were new, ie the demand for their services is only increasing, and over 1.5M lbs of food delivered. We learned that 1 in 5 families need foodbanks. Don't forget, those of us that live in large metropolitian areas like Toronto, are in the wealthiest places in the world and people are in need. Thank you to The Compass staff for reminding us of that and for us to remember to be grateful and gernerous.
