Comparison
“Every man must do two things alone,” said Martin Luther. “He must do his own believing and his own dying.” When you compare yourself with others, you will become bitter or vain because there will always be people better or worse then you.
Making comparison is a sure path to frustration. “You can’t clear your own fields while counting the rocks on your neighbor’s farm.” (Joan Welch). “The grass may be greener on the other side of the fence, but there’s probably more of it to mow” (Lois Cory). Hills look small and green a long way off.
