Comparison makes people see clearly the difference between NYC and Overland Park
When my daughter was little, we used to walk to the nearby Overland Park Convention Center (OPCC) on weekend, where she played games with their free internet. Yesterday we walked to the OPCC to see if things were still the same.
I was surprised to find that things were much better than before with free WIFI, free clean restrooms, spacious A/C hallway and no doorman, no guard at the door. Free entrance to all.
I can't imagine the same thing in New York City! Such great place would be heavily guarded in NYC, otherwise it would be occupied by criminals and homeless people.
On my 9/16 post, I mentioned a Chinese saying, life is easy for a thousand days spent at home, but difficult even for one day away from home. The comparison emphasizes the comfort of home and the hardship of life away from home.
Similarly, my experience in New York City made me more appreciative of the peace, security, and convenience of life in Kansas. I feel fortunate that I have once lived in the great place called Overland Park, Kansas.
