Comparison of EVE 4680 and 4695 cells

EVE's current technical route focuses on a large cylinder while taking into account square laminations.

At the 3-person meeting in March last year, Chairman Liu Jincheng's speech "Large cylinder has vaguely become the ultimate battery technology direction", and the?company's technology conference in?December?last year, also confirmed EVE's choice of battery cell technology route.

For large cylinders, EVE should have?3?models: one?4680 following Tesla size, and two 4695?and?46120 sizes?for BMW customers?(46120?is uncertain here).

1. Types and parameters of 4680 cells

EVE's 4680 cell model is INR46800, which was first disclosed at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show:

  • Weight 355g, comparable to Tesla's 4680 cells;
  • Capacity is 26Ah;
  • The rated voltage is 3.61V;
  • Working voltage 4.2~2.8V;
  • Working temperature -30~55°C;
  • Cycle life 1500 CLS.

EVE also has a 4680 fast-charging cell developed with Israeli company StoreDot, which is designed by StoreDot, and EVE is mainly responsible for its production, including pilot production lines, small batches and mass production. According to StoreDot's planning, mass production will be realized in 2024.

The main product features of this 4680 battery cell from StoreDot are as follows:

  • Positive: NCM 811
  • Negative electrode: silicon
  • Specific energy: 300Wh/kg
  • Fast charge: 10-0% SOC in 80 minutes
  • Cost: $80/kWh (2024)
  • Lifespan: 1500 cycles (mass production in 2024)

The above two cells can be regarded as EVE's forerunner on the large cylindrical route, followed by 4695 cells.

2. Types and parameters of 4695 cells

EVE's 4695 cells are divided into energy INR4695E and power INR 4695P, and the parameters of the two are as follows:

Specifically:

(1) The capacity of the energy type 4695 is 32.5Ah, the power is 119Wh, and the functional type is 29.7Ah, 109.6Wh, compared with the 4680.93Wh of the 86, the energy type 4695 increases the power by 27%;

(2) The specific energy of energy type 4695 is 280Wh/kg (the specific energy of 4680 is 264.4Wh/kg), and the power type is 260Wh/kg, which is the current technical level, according to the information of last year's conference, the long-term goal of 4695 is 350Wh/kg, and the short-term is 280-300Wh/kg;

(3) The voltage platform of 4695 is 3.68V/3.69V, which is higher than 4680, the working voltage is 4.25V~2.8V, and the upper limit voltage is slightly higher;

(4) The DC internal resistance of energy type 4695 is 2.8 milliohms, the power type is 2 milliohms, and the low internal resistance makes the maximum discharge power of power type 4695 1100W;

(5) In terms of cycle life, the fast charge life of 4695 type cells is 1200cls, and the normal life is 2000cls, which is also greatly improved compared to the 4680cls of 1500.

EVE lithium energy at the cell level still has a lot of technical foundation, due to the late entry into the field of power batteries, vehicle shipments are relatively small, system level technology is relatively weak, although these technologies can be quickly replenished and keep up, but in the specific application field of the product, some things still need time to accumulate.

EVE's new generation system technology based on 4690 cells is called "π system", and the energy-based and power-based cells should have different integration solutions, and we will focus on the analysis later.
