?? Yesterday, as I was reading Fast Retailing Q4 results, I realised something odd. Somehow, I wasn't prepared to receive a full-year report by mid-October. 2022 hasn't even finished. What's going on?
?? So I decided to look into it... and this is what I found:
?? Inditex集团 , H&M and UNIQLO are using a different financial calendar. When they say Q4, they mean absolutely different things.
?? But, why am I obsessed with quarters? Because fashion has a great degree of seasonality and the last months of the year tend to account for a great deal of the total numbers. Missing the targets on any of those months usually means missing the full year.
?? Inditex starts right after that peak period, H&M right before commencing (although Black Friday is getting more track), but Uniqlo is starting right after returning from vacation. Which one is best?
??All of them are appropriate, but what you can't do is compare them!
