Once you have decided that you want insurance it’s a good idea to get a few quotes from different companies.

It’s important to compare like with like and not go with price alone.

A cheaper quote may mean that there are more exclusions or a higher excess. Exclusions are things for which you’re not covered, and the excess is the amount of money you will have to pay towards the claim. The higher the excess the cheaper the premium.

Insurers should give you a summary document that includes key facts about the insurance cover you’re thinking of taking out. This will help you to compare prices and the level of cover between different insurers.
