As you can see, Universal motors can run at extremely high speeds but only at very low torque levels. AC motors hold a fairly consistent speed over a range of torque. DC and Brushless motors have similar curves—low speed and high torque—but Brushless motors dramatically exceed the torque levels of all other motor options at similar frame sizes.
