Comparatively Inexpensive
I have a vacation coming up. With no Conference? Montana did not want me. Did you think I was going to grow dental floss? I would respect someone whose LinkedIn headline read "I am the Slime."
Before wondering why I never wrote an article on Frank Zappa? Maybe I have not written enough articles. I have taken hybrid vacations. That is where I work a couple days and travel four days. I could work through vacation.
It's double pay and they are short handed. I took all my "Mental Health Days" in high school. Let's go to Hawaii. I have visited Oahu. Little is stopping me from returning. I like long haul flights and there are two. I might end up on a Dreamliner. I have flown on a 787 and it is enjoyable.
Air India has one from IAD. Now is not the time to visit India. International travel is going to be complicated for a while. Checking rates for Maui, which I have not visited, flights were less expensive.
It's amazing how $945 USD sounds like so much less than $1019. They are almost the same. While there were some reasonably priced hotels in Waikiki? Maui's hotel rates looked a default. They might as well have been 999.99 per night.
It wasn't the W or St. Regis. The hotel situation made me not want to visit Hawaii. Checking a city that is usually expensive, almost as expensive as flying to Hawaii? Prices were reasonable. I shall deal with heat and humidity.
It gives me the opportunity to see one of the four remaining baseball stadiums I have not visited in person. Flights to Cleveland are annoyingly expensive. There is rhyme or reason to flights. Some closer destinations are more expensive.
A former colleague was from Wichita, Kansas. He didn't go home often because flights were too high. He mentioned it was cheaper to fly to Los Angeles. Some days are less expensive than others. Flying Wednesday-Saturday is usually inexpensive. I have taken early Sunday flights.
That is better than flying Sunday afternoon. Too crowded, even in a pandemic. The airport has been a good place to social distance. After ten o'clock it is not crowded. Do I miss crowds? Not until I am surrounded by too many people.
