This Company Should Be Sold
Messaging apps are a winner this week. Messaging has been the fastest-growing online behavior in the past five years, with more than a billion new users estimated by 2018. Unsurprisingly, Facebook is positioned to profit from the trend as it owns the top two messaging apps: Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
A loser: Yahoo. Despite being one of the most trafficked sites in the world, Yahoo is struggling with monetization and poor governance. Yahoo’s acquisition team showing up at your door can only mean that your company is about to fail — and you’re about to get rich.
The brand winners on Singles’ Day: Olay and Uniqlo, who profited from the holiday with discounts on already inexpensive products. Macy’s was one of the biggest losers, as the retailer launched a Tmall store just in time for the world’s biggest shopping day but failed to promote it adequately. The new Tmall launch generated just under $120,000 for the brand.

9 年Nice mix of messaging and humour, if I may add first all those messaging apps("Your company is an app now" ;)) have customers (not only users) and exactly right the reason Mark Z invested in that brand, he have access to "global telephone directory" that is leveraged for designing the digital world it's customers see on other brands.
