Tips and tricks for effective candidate sourcing

LinkedIn Recruiter is a powerful tool for finding and engaging with potential candidates.? However, its company search function can sometimes be confusing or yield inaccurate results.?Here are some tips and tricks to help you make the most of this feature:

Understanding the basics

When you search for a company on LinkedIn Recruiter, you have two main options:

• Company selection:? You can select the company name from a dropdown list of suggestions.? This will return results for individuals who currently work (or past or current / only past / past not current) at the company or have it listed in their work experience.

• Company name search:? You can enter the company name as a keyword (in the company section).? Hit a hard enter after the company name. And you will search for this company name. See below canva with all small capitals. I use this to show you the difference.

Best practices for effective company search

• Add a hard enter after the company name:? This can help avoid matching similar company names; sometimes, LinkedIn misplaces companies. Canva, for example. LinkedIn misses ten candidates.? It’s not much, but if you, for example, 298 good candidates.

How to do this? Search for Commonwealth Bank in the dropdown and choose doesn’t have.? Secondly, type commonwealth bank, choose must have, and give a hard enter.? You will see the difference

• Always use Boolean over the listed company names. I proved this in this previous example.? Exclude irrelevant results with NOT: Use the NOT operator to exclude results from a specific company.?
• Be mindful of company name variations:? Companies may have different names on LinkedIn than in real life.? Try searching for both the complete company name and any abbreviations or acronyms.
