The decline in employee engagement, as indicated by Gallup's annual survey, is indeed a concerning trend in workplaces. While I would never suggest getting rid of all your managerial staff, this article shows the importance of teaching your managers to be player/coaches, not overseers. The factors mentioned—clarity of expectations, opportunities to learn and grow, connection to the purpose of the company, opportunities to do what employees do best, and feeling cared about at work—play crucial roles in fostering a positive work environment and motivating employees.

Brilliant! With a change in perspective and some coaching, managers can become coaches. It’s a learnable skillset.
