OPINION: Attwood Marshall Lawyers Support NAIDOC Week 2024
Sunday 7th July to 14th July, marked NAIDOC Week across the country. The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee.
Attwood Marshall Lawyers joined our fellow Australians around the country in commemorating NAIDOC week to support our First Nations community to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, writes Attwood Marshall Lawyers' Legal Practice Director, Jeff Garrett.
"It would seem that until there is a genuine bi-partisan approach to this issue, we will continue to see indigenous rights go by the wayside. The current position of the parties does not give any hope that this position will change in the near future, although the Mabo decision will always be a source of hope in the reshaping of our common law." Community Engagement
On Friday 12th July, our team hosted the Salvation Army Community Wills Day at the Salvation Army Brisbane City Temple, and on Tuesday 23rd July at our Robina Town Centre office. Our estate planning lawyers donated their time to prepare simple Wills for the community, in return for a donation that goes directly to the Salvos.
Community Wills Days provide a wonderful opportunity?to make sure you have a legally valid and up-to-date Will which reflects your wishes, whilst also supporting a hard-working local charity, like The Salvation Army. The Salvos?fight?to transform Australia one life at a time, helping people facing hardship and injustice. Both days were sold out, and we are looking forward to our next Community Wills Day on Tuesday 13th August at our Coolangatta office.
