Company Culture and Other Nonsense

Suddenly (well, not quite), we are all trying to define Company Culture, looking to websites, social media posts, and Glassdoor reviews to give us the inside scoop on what the companies we are applying to are really all about. This is going to be a short post. The whole idea of "company culture" is nonsense and irrelevant if you haven't figured out what YOU value in work and professional life first. Know what means the most to you about professional work norms -yes, really, that is all company culture is. The very least of it is the pool table in the break room, and parties on everyone's birthdays in the office. The most important component of company culture are the values that underscore the company's behavior; none of this matters until you have it figured out for yourself. Most candidate's I talk to on a daily basis seem shocked to realize, when I ask them about their values, that they have ready answers that are about an inch deep. It's a very worthwhile exercise to ask yourself what really matters to you in your work at the end of the day. By the way, if you are hot on a particular company right now, the best clue to their company values is in how they treat their customers ;)

So what do YOU value? What are you willing to go-to-bat for, get in trouble for, and live and die by in your work-life? I'm sure it isn't a pool table in the break room.

Respect is the foundation of company culture. Respect for each other, the client, the customer, and every interaction.

Respect and creative collaboration for peers and clients alike, so we can help clinicians provide the very best care to their patients, alleviate headaches of the mundane while providing better solutions. Feeling supported, valued and challenged. And most importantly, encouraged and appreciated in all efforts to help others. Integrity, knowledge and client success :)
