To most all of us in the business world, Zoom has become as ubiquitous a term as Kleenex and Xerox were to earlier generations. I know. I have sat in on what now seems like hundreds of Zoom calls during the Covid era. Most have been industry related. For me, that means sports, entertainment, television, communications.
Coupled with the Zoom explosion has been that of streaming. EVERYONE went full throttle streaming last spring when lockdown relegated us to our own home offices. Sports, entertainment, telemedicine, and corporate conferences, had little recourse but to push the streaming envelope.
Latency was an issue. The mother of necessity has made improvements there. Scalability was (and still is) an issue albeit one that is being improved upon. Getting a quality, no-degradation signal to hundreds of thousands or even millions around the world with sub-second latency, is no small feat.
Many of those in the streaming technology game – and you know who you are – have made strides with those pain points over the last year.
Yet, as I participated in more and more OTT and streaming Zoom calls and webinars, I began to hear yet another discourse. The cost of streaming. By end of year, many of those in the industry were beginning to cite the expense of streaming as a concern to the rapid expansion and adoption many were experiencing.
But what if there was a technology, agnostic to the Internet industry (fiber, 5G, satellite) that could cut the cost of streaming literally in half (or more)?
There is a company in Georgia right outside Atlanta (Alpharetta) armed with a new round of capital that has developed a technology that can do just that, thanks to a rapidly growing portfolio of patents. They are working with the U.S. Department of Defense and have completed solid tests with a major communications carrier, a professional sports team and a popular crossover recording artist.
If you are in the streaming industry at any level of sophistication, you owe it to yourself (and possibly your stockholders) to check out how Streaming Global (https://streaming.global) can help dramatically reduce costs, impact your bottom line and enhance future growth.
