Many companies where I have interviewed have either rejected me or prioritized candidates with Instagram experience. However, I’ve noticed that many of these companies lack brand exposure and sustainable growth. Their overreliance on Instagram often leads to the eventual termination of their Digital Marketing teams.
Many business leaders, influenced by visually appealing content on Instagram, mistakenly believe that everything sells on the platform. The reality is that Instagram is primarily used for entertainment, not direct purchasing. Most campaigns I’ve seen lack essential elements like website links, lead forms, or any method to capture user data—making it unclear how they expect to generate meaningful business results.
As a result, these companies often struggle financially, report losses to their stakeholders, and resort to cost-cutting measures, including layoffs. Their obsession with Instagram, without a solid marketing strategy, ultimately harms both their business and employees.
