The gender pay gap is largely a? “motherhood penalty.” A Pew report found that the US wage gap between men and women under 30 is smaller than for men and women overall. In other words, equal pay can be achieved if employers stop penalizing would-be and new mothers.?

Employers brought a labor shortage on themselves.? Yes, the pandemic inflicted incredible traumas on the US workforce, but those followed a steady accretion of “business-friendly” policies that prioritized shareholders at workers’ expense.?

Inflation will hurt employee retention. In a tight labor market, employers that can’t, or won’t, offer pay bumps commensurate with inflation may be at a higher risk of losing workers already predisposed to look for new jobs.?
