Comorbidity and Nursing Professionalism
Effective teamwork in healthcare delivery can immediately and favorably impact patient safety and outcome. As co-morbidities and the complexity of medical specialization increase, so does the need for effective teams. The evolution of healthcare and the demand for high-quality patient care on a global scale call for parallel professional development in the healthcare field with a strong emphasis on patient-centered teamwork.
A qualified clinical team includes you as an RN. However, acting the part constantly can be challenging in a high-stress situation. Putting patients first, maintaining moral standards, and approaching the job with the proper attitude daily are all components of being a professional nurse.
Team-based Healthcare
Team-based healthcare delivers health services to individuals, families, and/or communities by at least two healthcare professionals who cooperate with patients and their caregivers — to the extent that each patient prefers — to achieve common objectives within and across settings to achieve coordinated, high-quality care. Healthcare systems can significantly benefit from sharing responsibility and accountability between team members.
Professionalism in Nursing
Professionalism has been defined as both a noun and a verb, encompassing various facets of conduct, demeanor, and communication. We must "be" professional, "look" professional, and "act" professionally at all times. A fundamental relational skill in nursing, professional presence is a component of professionalism. Sharing a human experience between the nurse and the client is described as an honest and reciprocal exchange.
Nursing professionals should concentrate on patients as well as the tools and tasks as the field of nursing practice expands and the nursing team is challenged to prioritize the human aspects of care amidst technical and scientific demands. Nursing should be driven by professionalism, delivering ethical, competent, and compassionate care for all patients as the ultimate goal.
