The community of practices for Developing competencies

We use the community of practices proposed by management 3.0 in a project we developed in 2017, which we call co-creating. In this program, we used the Big Value List to define the values we had in common. Soon after defining the values that would represent us in this mission, we defined with people where our focus of work development would be.
We chose to foster two extremely challenging initiatives: A project management guild where anyone, irrespective of their hierarchical level and function, could enter the room and hear about project management concepts and practices for knowledge or use in their day to day. These meetings had a weekly periodicity, where anyone could also present on a certain subject. We created a second initiative, just for software development issues, called time to talk. It was a very interesting time, when professionals gathered to talk about new technologies, patterns, development frameworks and trends. All the meetings were totally organized by the professionals themselves, we only offered the space and a free time for the meetings to happen.
These meetings generated very expressive results such as the use of new software development tools and standards, the propagation of good practices, the sharing of lessons learned in projects, and the development of soft skills in those involved, since the content was presented by the professionals themselves. organized weekly to demonstrate their knowledge on a subject, thus overcoming problems such as shyness and developing their organizational skills and public speaking.
