Successful Presence at the World Cargo Symposium in Hong Kong

"Look at the individual employees and always remember that a strong learning culture affects not only the bottom line but also the top line."

This was just one of the numerous suggestions presented by Janina Meininger from CHI and member of our YACE team during the panel discussion on People in Air Cargo at the main stage of the IATA World Cargo Symposium. Janina was on stage along with Alanood Obaid Alsuwaidi and Wilson Kwong. The panel discussion was moderated by Brendan Sullivan, who asked crucial questions about the challenges companies face when hiring new staff, how they overcome them, and which success stories are worth sharing.

Members of our community were also present on stage in the Sustainability and Digitization streams.

Harald Sieke from Fraunhofer IML began with a presentation of the research approach to technological development and innovation from warehouse to aircraft. The institute is researching digital and innovative approaches to shaping the future of air cargo by developing both autonomous and environmentally friendly solutions. Combining these two components is clearly the key to inventing the future.

Focusing on sustainable approaches, Nicole Mies emphasized the understanding of sustainability at Lufthansa Cargo. The strategy is clear: Reduce, recycle, reuse the materials produced and required along the air cargo supply chain. But it goes beyond that: Upcycling is the new approach to make the best out of used equipment. Office articles, sports bags, and many other items were created.

Oliver Ditz from Fraunhofer IML and Moritz K?hler from Lufthansa Cargo announced very positive news: ONE Record and the DTAC NE:ONE Server Software are going into production. Congratulations on this great achievement! The software is open source and the entire air cargo community is invited to participate.

On the last day of the World Cargo Symposium, the FACEUP! Competition took place. This contest gives young talents, both students and young university graduates, the opportunity to present their innovative ideas for air cargo on the main stage of the World Cargo Symposium. This year's finalists were Erik Goldenstein from Fraunhofer IML with "NE:ONE Play", Arjan Singh Bhogal from Buckinghamshire New University with "Reducing the air cargo industry's single-use plastics problem," and Niclas Scheiber from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences with "Unleashing the semantics potential of ONE Record". All three finalists mastered their performance. In the end, the audience decided and crowned Erik Goldenstein as the winner. Of course, we are pleased that the trophy has flown to Frankfurt.

Happy Easter!

In the week prior to easter, we distributed chocolate bunnies to truckers and other employees in #CargoCity South during our Easter campaign. It was a joy to see the smiles and positive reactions. We are grateful for everyone in our community who brings full commitment to air cargo at our location, even on holidays. In this spirit, we would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a happy Easter!
