Community learning with Learning Rebellion in Times of Stillness

There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about - Margaret J. Wheatley

If you are reading this, it is because a bunch of courageous learning rebels from a still young learning community fulfilled their mission in adventurous co-created journey. They reached one of the milestones towards their destination and were able to plant a flag with pride; Learning Rebellion in Times of Stillness, the co-created book.

It is ironically called "in times of stillness" because we managed to set up a learning rebellion while working from home, facing a pandemic that was able to put a large part of the world's economy and everyday life on hold but nobody can stop a Learning Rebellion flourishing, even in stillness ;-)

THANK YOU in capital letters goes to the 40+ co-writing heroes including community shapers, reviewers and illustrators. Who all played an essential part in bringing this playbook to life. They were the ones that made it through this journey together and made it possible! We admire their spark of magic and enjoy every detail which gives the co-created book community project another dimension. Each of them is a known expert in their own fields with so much to bring to the Learning Innovation table with the ability to change the face of learning for the better.

Writing a book alone is hard; it costs a lot of patience, blood, sweat and tears, imagine writing a book together with a diverse group of learning professionals from across the world. Facing different ways of working, cultures, sense of humour and living in different time zones at least tripled the challenge. We believe they can be very proud of their accomplishment. And, of course, a very special mention goes to Joseangel Dominguez, who turned this wild project into a reality. His steadfast dedication to inspiring others to build a better education system, one project at a time, plus his strength in building bridges and motivating contributors to put their ideas into stories, was the driving engine behind the execution of this project

This playbook opens with a "Once upon a time". While enjoying the Madrid sun on a crowded terrace, Joseangel said to me "We should write a book together", and I replied "Why don't we write a book together, with whole Learning Rebellion community? Here is where the story began, and it is now part of Learning Rebellion's brief history - with serious intentions to prepare our learners for the future or work and societies.

We have never tried that before, so we definitely think we are able to do it - inspired by our role model Pippi Longstocking :)

When we work together on a common goal, we can achieve things beyond our greatest imagination.

This Playbook is a mean of bringing to the world concrete ideas & best practices that are co-created, following the Learning Rebellion creative mindset & attitude and curated by our contributor's view based on their own experience and background.

Therefore, this Playbook is not the "one and only truth", "a one size fits all", nor the "end picture," since we consider this playbook an outcome of a community learning project with the focus on collaborative learning and like to embrace the strengtht of our diverse contributors. We see Learning Rebellion as an infinite mixed game.
