Anyone can launch a podcast for a variety of reasons. For?Kerryn Vaughan, she started her podcast to send a message and empower the world good. Kerryn is an international speaker, facilitator, author, and host of the?Get Off The Bench Podcast?and author of?Get Off The Bench!: Kickstart your idea now.
Permanent Potential
This is the name we give to those wannabe hosts, who have all the potential in the world, but can’t seem to hit the ‘Launch!’ button. For Kerryn, the procrastination we see in life, in business, is part of the inspiration for the name of her show, Get Off the Bench. Her book is the same in that it details how to kickstart a project that will create impact.
“For the podcast, what I wanted to get across was to showcase people who have pushed through challenges and to inspire other people to think, “If she’s done it, maybe I could do it. If he’s done it, I could do that, too.” The aim of the podcast is to inspire people to listen to other people’s stories and resonate with their triumphs and for that to encourage them to get off the bench and do something, do that thing.”
Podcasting is an amazing medium to get people excited and inspired. Over the years, countless listeners have reached out to me to tell me they were thinking about getting into tech or 3D or they have a product idea, and they realized during an episode that it’s time for them to get started. It’s the extra push some people need, to hear someone else’s success story and realize they can do it too.

Why This Message Is So Important
And there are a million reasons why people don’t get off the bench and start that thing they’ve always wanted to. When it comes to podcasting, the task of just starting can be so overwhelming and feel so big sometimes, it’s easier just to hold. Kerryn talks often about chunking to-do items, so they seem less overwhelming, and I recommend this to clients of Podetize often. Take one item, break it into 3 easier steps, and start at step one.
Binge Truth Bomb:?If you don’t have passion for what you’re doing or the people you’re talking to, it will come through in your show. So many hosts never reach bingeability because the passion isn’t there.
“I think I’m the world’s biggest cheerleader. The world needs more joy. When you start something like a business, a side hustle or a project, there’s always going to be hard stuff. Life is about hard stuff, but those moments of joy when you’re truly doing your thing, those are ‘wow’ moments, and they keep people moving or inspire them to take further action. And I feel like we all need to hear those moments and stories.”
Binge Factor:?There’s so much about Kerryn’s show that is great and what it really encapsulates is that there is something for every single listener. It resonates with everyone.
We are all at different stages of the time sitting on a bench on something. It might be something that we wish we were doing in our personal life. It might be something that we need to do in our business and it might be this social good mission that we have in our soul that we haven’t done yet. We all have those at various times throughout our lives, and Kerryn has made it her mission to inspire people to get up, get out there, off the bench, and make it happen.
