"Community Days at Bacancy are a Breakthrough in the WFH Regime" - Kanika Garg

Hi, I am Kanika Garg. I have worked with Bacancy for almost 1.5 years as a Software Engineer in Vue JS. I joined Bacancy as a remote employee, and my journey has been good so far. But I got intrigued with the recent initiative Bacancy took to invite people from different communities who have been working remotely and ask them to work from the office for a week.

This news pretty much excited me but made me scared as I had to leave my comfort zone. Living in Jaipur and always surrounded by my people gave me comfort. But I didn’t know my opinion would change in a few days!?

Bacancy is situated in Ahmedabad, the best city to be in and explore Gujarat. I planned my journey and landed in Ahmedabad, and attended the office. The premises are well designed and gave me motivated vibes everywhere with the vibrant colors and different quotes. I was excited as I was going to meet my team in person for the first time. I had contacted them virtually, but I didn’t know how this face-to-face experience would be. Bacancy welcomed us with a hot and scrumptious breakfast. During this, I connected with my team casually and got to know them.

Those days were full of fun and collaboration. The tasks were made easy when concerned people were around me. Team interactions were way too much fun, more than I expected. During these community days, I learned more about communication and collaboration, not only with my team member but also with other people in the organization. The session with the HR buddy helped us make the work process smooth and resolved issues. This made me realize how the absence of screens or microphones between two people can remove a lot of hesitation and make the work done quickly. In-person conversation can make a significant impact on work.?

During this time, I made a lot of fun memories with my colleagues, which included having an authentic Gujarati breakfast and a fun session our team head organized. These interactions made me learn about others’ projects and their expertise. Elaborated session, which made us learn about future work goals.?

The last day was full of emotions as we were having our last lunch of these community days together and bidding farewell to each other. The impact these initiatives made was now I chat more frequently with team members, There is no communication gap and hesitation to reach out to each other. Now I know whom to concern when needed. Waiting for the next community days and waiting for that email to pop up which says, “You are invited to Bacancy House.”?
