In this weekly format I am providing examples of what our members have shared over the past weeks to help others learn new skills and deepen their bonds with other community members.

1. Digital Euro: When in doubt, abstain (but be prepared)

The paper by the Economic Governance and EMU scrutiny Unit at the request of the ECON Committee assesses the state of preparation for the possible launch of a digital euro.

It focuses on several aspects such as market impact, implications for banks, design and technical issues, monetary policy, financial stability, the role of?fintech?and Big Techs, international dimensions, privacy, and financial inclusion and offers brief recommendations for the ECON Committee are offered.

2. European Crypto Regulation: a Summary of Law by Country

CMS UK conducted a review of crypto asset?regulation on 28 jurisdictions, both inside and outside the European Union (prior to the introduction of?MiCA).

It provides a useful summary of the regulations applying to the main activities performed by crypto asset service providers and the requirements of the licensing regimes, including time and cost.

3. Regulatory Clarity for Crypto Marketplaces (CATO)

In this report, the CATO Institute discusses how crypto token exchanges can be either centralized projects reliant on intermediaries (centralized exchanges, or “CEXs”) or decentralized protocols composed of code (decentralized exchanges, or “DEXs”).

This briefing paper proposes crypto marketplace regulatory policy sensitive to the distinctions between CEXs and DEXs.

SFTA FinTech in Longevity Chapter is organising a panel discussion with prominent experts in the field of longevity and innovation. The use of technology, such as FinTech, is one such area that has the potential to greatly impact the field of longevity.

2. SFTA meet-up in Zug on Wed. 21 June from 6pm

The SFTA Zug Chapter is organizing an event on the topic of?zero-knowledge proofs.

The event will bring?SMEs, entrepreneurs and investors together and offer an opportunity of knowledge transfer and networking.

The event will feature 3 very short presentations along business, technology and regulatory aspects and be followed by networking.

Our past event in Lausanne on Wednesday 10 May

The SFTA Lausanne Chapter organized an after-work event to network, learn and debate.

This was a great opportunity to meet like-mind people from the Lausanne region and to exchange around a few drinks in a friendly atmosphere.

Thanks Gabriel Lamon for organising - I will try to attend the next one in June!
