Here are three interesting posts from my colleague?Silvan Andermatt , SFTA Head of Emerging Technologies and?Bruno Schneider - Le Saout , member of the SFTA LinkedIn group.
1. Fintech?and the Future of Finance: Market and Policy Implications byWorld Bank Group
Fintech is changing the financial sector and improving access to financial services for households and businesses, promoting economic development.
The World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund launched the Bali Fintech Agenda, consisting of 12 policy elements to help member countries benefit from financial technology while managing risks.
However, many still lack access to essential financial services.
Fintech is making an impact globally, including mobile money, bank apps, neobanks, and cryptocurrencies.
Policymakers should manage risks while fostering beneficial innovation and competition, broaden monitoring horizons, reassess regulatory perimeters, review regulatory frameworks, and be mindful of evolving policy.
2. Data portability in open banking: privacy and other cross cutting issues by OECD - OCDE
The OECD discusses the benefits and risks of open banking, which uses data portability to provide users with better access to financial services and information.
While it promotes financial inclusion, it also raises concerns about privacy and data breaches.
Governments have implemented legal and technical frameworks to facilitate open banking, but greater coordination is needed.
To ensure robust data protection and privacy regimes, regulators and policymakers should explore new models of regulatory cooperation, and cross-sectoral cooperation could further advance open banking.
3. UK government's consultation on modifying the tax treatment of decentralized finance (DeFi)
The UK government is seeking to modify the tax treatment of decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions involving cryptoassets lending and staking.
The consultation aims to create a tax regime that aligns the taxation of DeFi transactions with their underlying economic substance and reduces administrative burdens on users.
Proposed changes would no longer treat the use of cryptoassets in DeFi as a tax disposal, with disposals only occurring when cryptoassets are economically disposed of in non-DeFi transactions.
DeFi is a growing segment of the crypto market that provides financial services without traditional intermediaries but creates complex tax situations.

The Book Club discussed "The Psychology of Money"
?? What we liked about the book
- Easy to read and understand, with good stories as examples.
- Interesting and useful insights for people outside of the financial industry.
- Helped me to relax from the money saving / investment race.
- Everything is relative - something great for me can be perceived differently by someone else.
- It did not bring my knowledge to a deeper level, but it was a useful reminder, a wake-up call, to start thinking about my choices.
