Community is awesome! (+Changes and Good Finds)
Thank you to everyone who contacted me last week and asked how I and my family were doing after our experience with the coronavirus. Your well wishes and kind words made us all feel so much better.
Three days after writing last week’s newsletter, I tested positive for covid.
I am happy to report my symptoms were mild and I am already on the mend. Amazingly my partner still is not showing any symptoms and our son is back in school. I am thankful for our son’s teachers who are working with him to make up his assignments and for my clients who are willing to be seen virtually. My community is awesome!
Because of the current spike in covid cases, I have made some changes to the Shakti in the Mountains’ schedule.
- The January Witch’s Hygge is canceled.?Instead, we are adding a Witch’s Hygge on?March 11. Jenn and I have already planned the meal and the crafts for the?February Hygge?and are pretty stoked about what we are offering. I hope you can come!
- The Vision Board Workshop has been rescheduled for January 22 (Saturday).?During this workshop, you will have time to reflect on what you learned from 2021, choose a word for the year 2022, and find images for your vision board. It is really fun to sit in a circle where you feel supported to envision your future.?Please join us.
- I am adding a new event for January 29.?Atlas Books, our local, worker-owned bookstore will be in the house and ready to assist you in finding your next favorite read. In addition to a book sale and great dialogue (At our December pop-up, I got to meet two local authors and had several thought-provoking conversations.), I will be working in the apothecary to cultivate seeds in preparation for the Shakti 2022 garden. Please drop by between 11 am and 3 pm to browse the books, meet new people, and plant some of your good energy in our seed starts.
If you are feeling anxious or worried about the coronavirus, then please know we ask everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask while in the building. I am happy to share the people who show up comply and do so gladly. I am very proud of the way the Shakti community prioritizes the health of everyone. I witness a lot of hand washing and I hear folks ask others about their comfort level with physical proximity.
This routine demonstration of respect coupled with repeated requests for in person community is one reason why I am keeping face-to-face events. I am seeking a balance between physical safety and mental wellness. Too much isolation is one of the reasons why mental health has suffered greatly since the start of the pandemic.
Please do what is right for you and your family.
If you are not comfortable with meeting in person and desire social interaction, then please check out our virtual events, and if needed, contact me with your request for support. I will do my best to help you make connections.
One of the advantages to being in quarantine is I have extra time for reflection and contemplation. This time not only has provided insights but has sparked my creativity. Sometimes my creative output is tangible. I started a sewing project and am teaching myself to knit. Sometimes my creative output generates new curriculum for future Shakti events.
I am happy to report those of you who are attending the upcoming winter series, Exploring the Dark, will directly benefit from my quarantine. I have been exploring the underground tunnels of the psyche and am ready to guide the female warriors who show up.
The sense I have is we are preparing for a confrontation which asks us to come into right relationship with all living things, including ourselves. This path is the way of the feminine and embodies the qualities of love, kindness, and compassion. If this journey resonates with you, please know there are a few more spaces open for?Exploring the Dark. I encourage you to register this week before those spots are full.
Lastly, I just want to mention a couple of good finds I discovered while scrolling the many media platforms at my disposal. (I welcome recommendations from you.?Please share!)
